After Final Fantasy XIII’s lengthy (not to mention expensive) development cycle, it makes sense that Square Enix would look into less expensive alternatives for their flagship franchise. Those alternatives don’t extend as far as moving it to handhelds though.
“In terms of Final Fantasy in general, the teams are really aiming for movie quality graphics and really dramatic storylines,” producer Yoshinori Kitase told Kotaku.
“For now, at least, consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3 are the best place for this kind of cinematic experience to take place. We don’t feel that it needs to transition necessarily to a handheld platform.” Continue reading »
