Many of the strategy games released this year — indeed, many of the best — are sequels. But one newcomer stands out, earning shout outs on nearly every gaming publication and a devoted fan base. I’m talking about Frozen Synapse, the turn-based tactics game that challenges your imagination as much as it does your strategy skills. Since every turn occurs simultaneously for both sides, you must attempt to predict what your opponent will do and give orders to counter that. When both sides are ready you get to see how it plays out, and how effective your choices were. Our reviewer felt the 55 mission single-player campaign was good, but Frozen Synapse truly shines when you’re beating on other players.
